Brown: Bobby and Barack are two peas in a pod
MAY 22 Jim Brown is blogging about Bobby Jindal again in this week's post, and again Bobby probably won't see it as complimentary. Brown is writing about how Jindal and President Obama are so similar. They're "cold fish" politically, they have religious issues haunting them, and they both have extolled the benefits of individual insurance mandates.

Those activists and their T-shirts
MAY 22 This post from John Maginnis is entertaining, and it covers a lot of ground. From some recent session skirmishes to the ongoing eye doctor broo-ha-ha, he's giving us some updates - and talking about how each group of citizens in matching T-shirts gives our legislators a cramp.

Jindal proves GOP has nothing to replace Obamacare
MAY 22 This post on the Wall Street Cheat Sheet blog takes a look at Bobby Jindal's recent editorial on Fox News. In it, Jindal positioned himself as the savior of all those who want Obamacare to go away - either because it costs them money or because they hate the Obama part of it. Instead of proving there's a viable alternative, Jindal just proved the GOP has nothing better to offer, the post argues.

Vitter wants to protect abortion patients?
MAY 22 In the "what the...?" category we have this post from the Advocate about Sen. David Vitter. Apparently, our friend is concerned that a Baton Rouge clinic that performs abortions is not complying with the HIPAA laws that govern patient privacy. Hmmm.

The latest installment in the Zurich investigation
MAY 22 Here's the latest installment in the Louisiana Purchased series of stories, which already has won a Peabody Award. Investigative reporter Lee Zurich is looking at the St. Tammany district attorney, who hasn't faced an opponent since Jim Mora was coach of the Saints -- and yet still has been raising (and spending) millions of campaign dollars.

Gill on the (latest) innocent convict
MAY 22 Columnist James Gill opines on the recent release of a man who spent 34 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. This poor guy wasn't the only one to get railroaded while Harry Connick was DA, Gill tells us. And there is some pretty astonishing detail in here about how the case against this guy was "built."

Pondering NOLA's lost Super Bowl bid
MAY 22 In this post on Gambit's Blog of New Orleans, Jeff Pizzo is chewing on the announcement earlier this week that the NFL had bypassed New Orleans to award the 2018 Super Bowl to Minnesota. Mostly, he's wondering about the possibility of a new stadium for Louisiana's boys. Most believe that Minnesota got the nod, not because of its lovely January/February weather, but because it is springing for a $1 billion stadium.

The latest on the Coulter shooting
MAY 22 Here's the latest from the Picayune on the shooting of Marshall Coulter, 14, by a NOLA homeowner. The case has been the source of much discussion and controversy, partly because it is alleged Merrit Landry shot the teen in self-defense. This story tells us that forensics experts have determined that the teen's back was to Landry when the shot was fired into his head.
