BROWN: LSU LACKS DECENT ENDOWMENT PLAN
MAY 1 Jim Brown is blogging about LSU this week. He says the school certainly has reason to complain about the deep cuts it (and the rest of higher ed in Louisiana) has been enduring for the past seven years. But LSU would be in much better shape if the school had created a good endowment plan, Brown argues.

THEY DISAGREE WITH ME; TOSS 'EM OUT!
MAY 1 Here's the latest in Bobby Jindal's attempts to corner the wingnut vote; his spokesperson is quoted in this Picayune story as saying that Jindal believes two SCOTUS Justices should recuse themselves from deciding upon gay marriage. The reason? They don't think the same thing Jindal does.

ASWELL'S COVERAGE OF THE LSU MARCH
MAY 1 Blogger Tom Aswell gives us his take on Thursday's march on the State Capitol by LSU students and faculty. He focuses here on the anti-Jindal aspect of the march, including a photo of three students carrying signs. One of them is priceless: "All due respect," her sign reads, "Do you know what you're doing?"

MAY 1 Close to 1,000 students and faculty marched on the State Capitol Thursday, protesting (more) planned cuts to LSU and higher education in Louisiana. This is a story in the San Francisco Chronicle; apparently our state's refusal to continue its support of a public higher education system is national news now.
