FEB 27 Here's a post in the National Journal that is interesting in that it is about an issue largely viewed as the elephant in the room - as long as the room is in Louisiana. It's old news (here) that David Vitter and Bobby Jindal really, really, REALLY don't like each other - but why? It's an interesting analysis, possibly accurate, possibly not, but definitely worth a read.
FEB 27 This story on The Red Shtick, Louisiana's own satire site, takes on the 'Obama doesn't love America' ridiculousness. As usual, it's very funny because it rolls so close to the truth.
FEB 27 Jim Brown is blogging about religion and politics this week. He talks about prayer rallies and the dangers of rewarding politicians who chose sides in the religion arena, and he quotes the Bible. The verse he refers to clearly was never studied by any host of a televised prayer rally.
FEB 27 A former Pat Juneau deputy has filed a defamation suit against Louis Freeh, the Louisiana Record reports in this post. Christine Reitano claims that Freeh ruined her career in law when he accused her of corruption.
FEB 27 A state economist has disputed Bobby Jindal's (ridiculous) story line that blames Louisiana's budget problems on recent drops in oil prices, the Picayune reports here. The real question is, who is falling for that story? These budget problems have been repeated for years. Do these oil prices have some sort of retroactive effect? Please.
FEB 27 Amy Schully, a senior at Newcombe-Tulane College, pens this editorial in the Tulane student paper about Bobby Jindal, Louisiana and his ambition. In it, she's saying things that our mainstream media have trouble articulating, to wit: Bobby Jindal has put his ambition above his duty to Louisiana.
FEB 26 Blogger CB Forgotston is ruminating over recent stories in the Advocate detailing the many (many, many) days per year that Bobby Jindal spends somewhere other than the state he's paid to govern. To consider the conundrum, CB takes a look at some of the "work" Bobby has done while he's been here -- and opines that possibly we're better off when he's gallivanting in Iowa and not conducting ALEC experiments on us.
FEB 26 Here's an interesting piece by blogger Rod Dreher about the current state of affairs in American politics in which conservatives are obsessed with whether or not President Obama will refer to psychotic serial killers as representatives of Islam or not. It's fascinating and full of opinions which, although not variegated, are revealing nonetheless.
FEB 26 To add to the stress of Bobby Jindal's already Sisyphus-like Presidential campaign, this post on the Advocate's politics blog reports that a recent GOP poll didn't find Bobby was running 12th in a 10-man race -- he wasn't polling at all. Noticeably (for us and Bobby, anyway) absent from the poll's findings is any mention of our Governor.
FEB 10 So, blogger CB Forgotston has waded into protraitgate, and the debate over white Bobby Jindal/brown Bobby Jindal. It's really a visual comment he's making, so we won't spoil it -- just go look.
