MAY 22 Jim Brown is blogging about the governor's race in this week's post. While the GOP is busy packing its clown car with the sinning Senator nobody likes, a Jindal clone and the only genuinely nice guy in state office, and the pundits are saying voting for Edwards is like voting for the sinner, Brown wonders if our saving grace might just be "that John Wayne dude," as he describes Russel Honore. (Just for giggles, please note that there's a picture of Honore's book, with his first name properly spelled, at the top of the post. In the post, his first name is improperly spelled.)
MAY 22 Columnist Stephanie Grace articulates what most people who read the newspapers know - that Bobby Jindal just did what he has criticized President Obama for doing -- issuing an executive order in a controversial issue. Presumably, it wasn't for the same reason - because Obama already lives in the White House.
MAY 22 Crazy Crawfish is giving us another case of the raging heebie jeebies with this post about the latest plan for our state Department of Education to "share" personal information about our children with corporations. It seems nothing is off-limits, doesn't it?
MAY 22 WVUE reports here that Drew and Brittany Brees are the new co-owners of the Louisiana-based sports bar franchise, Walk-Ons. The Brees family already has a history of investing in Louisiana franchise restaurants, having stock in several Jimmy Johns sandwich shops.
MAY 22 Here's a post from WWL that lets us in on an explosive secret: some think Bobby Jindal's executive order allowing discrimination against the LGBT community was done for political reasons. Wow! You don't say? In other news, WWL reports, it's Friday.
MAY 22 Usually we go to the Dead Pelican for links, but here's a post from the site on a controversy brewing between pollster Elliott Stonecipher and the Baton Rouge Business Report. Stonecipher gave a speech which BRBR covered, and he's not happy with how his comments were edited. The BRBR had to retract the story, correct and apologize. D'oh!
MAY 21 Blogger Jason Brad Berry started this petition on MoveOn.org to recall Bobby Jindal, and so far it's collecting signatures like Bobby collects, well, hmmm. (What does Bobby collect? White paintings of himself?) ANYWAY, it's collecting a lot of signatures. It's not going to accomplish anything in terms of the law, because it's not a valid recall petition, but it certainly should generate press, and we know how much Bobby loves that.
MAY 21 This is a short and sweet post on Charles Pierce's "Stupid for Lunch" blog in Esquire about our Bobby Jindal. If you're interested in politics you should probably be reading his blog already, and not just for his entries. Take a minute and read the comments on his posts; they're often as hilarious - if not more - than the original Pierce post. This one is no different.
MAY 21 This post on Hotty Totty takes a look at Louisiana's craft beer brewers. It's got a little history, a little update and some cool photos.
