State GOP pushes back against recalls

by Walter Pierce

A group called the Louisiana Political Action Committee has been formed to serve as the finance arm of the recall efforts.

Seeking to stymie recall efforts against Gov. Bobby Jindal, House Speaker Chuck Kleckley and other Republican elected officials, the Louisiana Republican Party has begun a public-relations push to counter the recalls. The Advocate is reporting the state party has begun buying television ads and yard signs in the districts of Kleckley, R-Lake Charles, and Slidell Reps. Greg Cromer and Kevin Pearson, all considered abettors of Jindal's education revamp during the recent session.

A group called the Louisiana Political Action Committee has been formed to serve as the finance arm of the recall efforts. The group has established a hotline - (337) 263-0688 - as well as a website, "Recall Bobby Jindal," where persons interested in joining the recall effort can download petitions.

According to LPAC's website, a petition drive will be spearheaded in Lafayette at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday by Richard Miller, who can be reached at 288-7128.
