What's so Lafayette, Lafayette?

Our fair city has its quirky underbelly, and The Ind needs your help drilling down to it. What, exactly, is quintessentially "Lafayette"? What are our idiosyncrasies? Here's one to get you started:

* Streets that change name when they intersect a major thoroughfare. Johnston Street turns into Louisiana Avenue at Evangeline Thruway. (Google shows it changing name at the railroad tracks.) University Avenue turns into Surrey Street at the Thruway. Agnes into Simcoe at University. Duhon into South City Parkway at Johnston. No city we know has more of this going on than the Hub City, which can make giving driving directions to outsiders a Byzantine affair.
