Your band is a business

by Dominick Cross

Bradley Black's session includes business organizational structure, making the band its own legal entity, touching on intellectual property issues, and more.

Making music is one thing, making a band is another and that's where Bradley Black comes in and you can hear what she's got to say 7 p.m. today at the Tipitina's Co-Op, 203 Jefferson St. in downtown.

Black is an entertainment lawyer based in Lafayette. She has worked for clients from L.A. to L.A., and recently started her own licensing company, Catahoula Music Exchange.

In her free and open to the public presentation "Your Band Is A Business: Legal Issues 101," Black will discuss how to organize your band as a business to give you insurance before you need it. Black's session includes business organizational structure, making the band its own legal entity, touching on intellectual property issues, and more.
