INSTYLE
Let us know who you think stands out in the crowd and should make our first-ever IND Style list. From elegant Italian designers to Bohemian and vintage threads, Lafayette is a shopping mecca for style, but any local retailer will tell you it takes more than money to pull off the right look. With that in mind, The Independent has taken on a project to recognize the most stylish among us, putting top fashionistas right up there with all things great about our community.

We'll celebrate these men and women on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the first-ever IND Style Awards and Big Hair Ball at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Along with recognizing them, we promise a runway show of the city's top retailers and hair salons that will reflect the professional commitment they have to bringing the best looks to the city.

But first we need your help. We plan to honor six men and women who exhibit Lafayette's unique style in the everyday lives, so let us know who you think should be on the list. Send your nominations and pictures (if you have them) to robinh@theind.com and lesliet@theind.com. Give us a few words about your nominee, including what you admire most about their personal style. Send along their contact info, too.

But please don't procrastinate. We are only accepting nominations through Tuesday, Aug. 7.
