Skin cancer screening Saturday

Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.  There is no eligibility requirement.  RSVP is encouraged by e-mailing here.

Local dermatologists will conduct free full body skin screening at the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, 1317 Jefferson St., in Lafayette. Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.

Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.  There is no eligibility requirement.  RSVP is encouraged by e-mailing [email protected].

The screening is a service partnership between the American Academy of Dermatology, Acadiana area dermatologists, LSU Family Medicine Program physicians, American Cancer Society and the Region 4 Coalition of the Louisiana Cancer Control Program. Referrals to follow-up services will be offered to patients.

The Acadiana Cancer Control Coalition supports "sun safety" for skin cancer prevention. According to Louisiana Tumor Registry data, Acadiana melanoma skin cancer rates have been increasing in recent years, especially among men.
