Budget hearings begin

The City-Parish Council will begin the often arduous and sometimes acrimonious task of picking through and finalizing the 2012-2013 fiscal year budget submitted last week by City-Parish President Joey Durel.

The City-Parish Council will begin the often arduous and sometimes acrimonious task of picking through and finalizing the 2012-2013 fiscal year budget submitted last week by City-Parish President Joey Durel. Today's hearing, which begins at 1 p.m. and is open to the public, will focus on the budgets for the police and fire departments, administrative services and public works and capital outlays.

A hearing will also be held at the same time Thursday covering Traffic & Transportation, Planning, Zoning & Codes, the legal department and prosecutors, Adult Corrections, Recreation, Information Services and Community Development.
