Kermit Ruffins
Celebrating three decades of bringing free live-music concerts to the central business district, Downtown Alive has released its fall 2012 series lineup. The concerts once again feature a wide variety of music styles from established and up-and-coming groups, commencing on Sept. 7 with the New Orleans jazz and swing of trumpeter Kermit Ruffins & The Barbecue Swingers at Parc International.
The concerts rotate between Parc International and Parc Sans Souci. Concession sales begin at 5:30 p.m.; the music begins a half hour later. To help keep DTA free, concert-goers are encouraged to leave the ice chests at home and patronize the on-site vendors. Leave the pets at home, too. And don't smoke. Just have a good time and dance, you know?
