Piastres en Masse at Breaux's Mart

by Wynce Nolley

FrancoJeunes continues its Franco-centric experiment in micro-economics with its second Piastres en Masse at Breaux's Mart this Saturday from 10 a.m. 2 p.m.

FrancoJeunes will be holding its second Piastres en Masse, or cash mob, at Breaux's Mart on Saturday from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. and asking its patrons to spend $10 or more at the 50 year-old, Franco-friendly grocery store.

As previously demonstrated by the inaugural Piastres en Masse, the act of holding a cash mob where patrons rally together at a preferred store or restaurant on a set day each spending a set amount at said business can be a welcome cultural stimulus for the business as well as an economic one.

Instead of just doubling or tripling revenues with the added community support, as was the case for Bibi's at the first Piastres en Masse held last month, the event also highlights each business as a beacon for many a Francophone looking for an adequate atmosphere where they are free to drop in and out of French when dealing directly with the business's staff.

Also during the event, feel free to peruse Breaux's Mart's many wares, which include bilingual signage and packaging labeled in French. Breaux's Mart's bilingual employees will also be serving hot plate lunches from 10 a.m. 2 p.m.
