Baton Rouge in crosshairs of Isaac

Our neighbors to the East are bracing for hurricane force winds, and possibly tornadoes.

The Advocate is reporting that Baton Rouge is bracing for tropical storm and hurricane force winds that could spawn tornadoes.

Mayor-President Kip Holden said, after receiving an update from the National Weather Service at 12:40 p.m., that Baton Rouge is in the crosshairs of some of the outlying bands of the hurricane and that the strong winds could last until 9 p.m. Wednesday. Others told the paper the high winds could remain through midnight.

The paper noted that parish officials are worried residents might not realize the danger posed by Hurricane Isaac.
