LPSO takes over case of missing Duson teen

by Leslie Turk

LPSO, which has worked on the case of the missing Duson teen Keiosha Felix for months, is now the lead investigator. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office has assumed the lead investigative role in the case of missing 15-year-old Keiosha Marie Felix, who was last seen on or about April 30.

The sheriff's office announced Monday afternoon that it has conducted a parallel investigation for several months but recently assumed the role of primary investigating authority after consulting with other law enforcement officials.

Duson Mayor Johnny Thibodeaux has confirmed that Assistant Police Chief Lt. Gerald Credeur was removed from the case and placed on administrative leave for "substandard performance." Supporters and friends of the "Find Keiosha Felix Now" Facebook page are planning to attend tonight's Duson council meeting to show support for Credeur and his work on the case.

KATC noted that of the four people arrested in connection with Felix's disappearance, just one remains in jail: Leon Wilkerson Jr. is facing charges of kidnapping and rape in the case. He has a preliminary hearing Thursday morning at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse, according to KATC.

According to The Daily Advertiser, Destined Generation Ministries, KJCB Soul 770 AM and KIEE 88.3 FM will stage "A Gathering for the Keiosha Felix Foundation," a benefit to help raise money for the search. Gospel artists will perform 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Destined Generation Ministries, 1325 S. Magnolia St.

Investigators are asking that family, friends or anyone with information contact them so that every tip can be fully investigated. Felix is being listed as an endangered missing person based on her age and the length of time that no one has had contact with her.
