Tax tips for freelancers offered

Self-employed in the creative economy? If so, Tipitina's Co-Op in Lafayette is offering a free workshop Tuesday evening to help freelancers navigate the U.S. tax code and made sound business decisions.

Self-employed in the creative economy? If so, Tipitina's Co-Op in Lafayette is offering a free workshop Tuesday evening to help freelancers navigate the U.S. tax code and made sound business decisions.

The workshop will be hosted by Ellen D. Cook, a CPA who for more than three decades served as an accounting professor at UL Lafayette and is currently the assistant vice president for academic affairs. Cook will offer a brief discussion of the forms of business ownership and give a detailed look at the annual tax-filing requirements of a limited liability company as well as review the various general- and industry specific business tax deductions available.
