Simply sheer

by Amanda Bedgood

On trend at Fashion Week and at home in Acadiana, sheer is an easy transition.

Our inside source at Fashion Week in NYC reports that one of the biggest trends she's seeing on celebs heading to the shows is the ever easy to wear (and a personal favorite of this IND style gal) sheer.

Sacred Heart alum Mallory Domingue is assistant director for FWNOLA year round and this week is the IMG Lounge Hostess for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week where she's our eyes and ears on what's hot now. And we're happy she's reporting that sheer is hot. Around Lafayette, we're seeing it everywhere for fall.

It's one of the easier trends to pull off no matter your style leanings. For the ladylike gals, a dress like this navy embellished (embellishment is huge for fall) piece from Park Lane is quite demure.

An easy sheer sleeve is one of the best ways to keep things business but on trend. Wear a jacket for day and at dinner go solo to show off your sheer flowy sleeves. Color continues to be hot, reports Mallory. And we're finding seriously vibrant shades like this wild tangerine and hot hot pink top from Little Town.

There's a fun leopard print with cut out top that's all kinds of sheer at Herringstone's and over at Vanessa V. a funky long creamy sheer vest is totally unique.

Two ways to wear sheer for the riskier ladies are the sheer maxi skirt and the sheer backed top.The maxi, shown here twice with simple tucked in shirts, has beautiful movement. (Great choice for a dramatic entrance). Booties are great now and we could even see some taller boots as the weather cools. The other option sheer back can be worn with or without a tank. I wore just such a top last week stripe front all business and long sheer back. A great option for after work if you go sans tank.

We're also seeing sheer dresses over simple tank dresses. And some of those giant palazzo pants of sheer fabric you wore this summer can be a nice transition just add a three-quarter sleeve top or cardi and a little floppy hat and you're fall ready.
