Landry gets local tea support

by Walter Pierce

The Boustany camp, meanwhile, is hitting back at Landry, claiming that special interest group FreedomWorks, which has funded a lot of tea party activity across the nation since 2009, is essentially meddling in this local race.

KATC is reporting that the Tea Party of Lafayette, which has changed its name to Geaux Free TPL, has endorsed New Iberia's Jeff Landry over Lafayette Congressman Charles Boustany in the 3rd Congressional District race this fall. We have an email in to TPL coordinator Joyce Linde and are awaiting confirmation.

The Boustany camp, meanwhile, is hitting back at Landry, claiming that special interest group FreedomWorks, which has funded a lot of tea party activity across the nation since 2009, is essentially meddling in this local race. Boustany's campaign manager, John Porter, released the following statement Wednesday morning about FreedomWorks' involvement in the race and the local tea party organization's endorsement of Landry:

Congressman Boustany has a long record of providing trustworthy, conservative leadership for this district, and the people here are well aware of that and are strong supporters. In fact, many local Tea Party members have contacted my office upset with this decision.

Yet again, Jeff Landry is proving he'll say and do anything to keep his job in Washington. This gives new meaning to the phrase  "Louisiana Purchase." Voters simply can't trust him. This is just another example to add to the laundry list of items of what's wrong with his leadership.
