Boustany hits Landry on missed votes

by Walter Pierce

"Domestic energy issues appear to not pass Landry's arbitrary litmus test."

Camp Boustany is again targeting U.S. Rep. Jeff Landry's empty chair in the House of Representatives, slamming the New Iberia Republican and primary opponent for missing a dozen votes on Friday, in particular one that centered on domestic energy production, a topic Landry has trumpeted as one of his top issues:

The twelve votes Landry missed Friday puts him well over the mark of 60 missed votes this year. Landry of course maintains he is in Washington, D.C. voting when the issues are "important" and back in South Louisiana when they are not. Domestic energy issues appear to not pass Landry's arbitrary litmus test.

Eye-y'yie!

The two congressmen, who are waging a PR battle on radio and television and will likely end up in a December runoff, are scheduled to appear along with the three other candidates in the race at a forum Wednesday in Crowley. The event, dubbed a Q&A as opposed to a "debate," will be held from 6:45-8 p.m. at the Grand Opera House of the South and is being hosted by the Crowley Chamber of Commerce.
