Festivals Acadiens et Créoles rolls this weekend in Girard Park and Cité des Arts will help Lafayette get into the Acadian spirit with a performance by Dixacadie, an all-female troupe from the Cindy Comeau - notice the lack of an x on the last name - School of Dance in Nova Scotia. The company comprises dancers ages 14-18 who perform traditional Acadian dance styles that pre-date the expulsion of the Acadians by the British in the mid 18th century.

The group performs at concerts, festivals and dance competitions in addition to the 2004 World Acadian Congress and the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. On Friday at Cité the girls will perform a musical theater rendition of "The Acadian Story."

The show begins at 6:30 p.m. Cité des Arts is located at 109 Vine St. downtown behind the old Gordon Hotel. For ticket information call (337) 291-1122 or visit Cité's website here.
