Gulf oil sheen linked to BP oil spill

BP: The gift that keeps on giving. An oil sheen discovered almost a month ago in the Gulf of Mexico has been linked to the 2010 BP oil spill.

According to a report from The New York Times, the oil sheen was first reported Sept. 16, and its size has varied since then.

Tests performed on the sheen now confirm that the oil is indeed an afterthought of the 2010 Macondo well blowout that killed 11 workers and prompted one of the largest environmental disasters in U.S. history.

Scientists say the oil could be coming from "wreckage or debris" on the ocean floor.
