The Times-Picayune is reporting that a suburban New Orleans resident has filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of Saints season-ticket holders against National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell, who earlier this year levied harsh suspensions against several Saints players and coaches over the alleged "pay-for-pay" bounty scandal.

St. Tammany Parish resident David Mancina is the named plaintiff in the case. The suit seeks $5 million from Goodell, alleging that the commissioner's actions in suspending head coach Sean Payton, General manager Mickey Loomis, assistant coach Joe Vitt and current players Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith, prevented the Black & Gold from "competitively fielding a contending team comprised of the finest athletes, and the best coaches ...," according to the T-P account, and that Goodell did so "without consideration for the rights of the paying ticket holder Plaintiffs."
