Little monsters take center stage

by Wynce Nolley

Lafayette's Halloween theatre scene gets another addition on Wednesday when The Monster Tales premieres at Theatre 810.

Wanderlust Theatre Company explores what really goes bump in the night with its production of Mary Jett Parsley's The Monster Tales.

According to a press release, The Monster Tales, directed by Elsa Dimitriadis, follows a young woman's discovery of her singular humanity after she finds a monster under her bed and, as the duo develop an unlikely friendship, they share stories with each another about mail-order brides, animals who carry notes from the afterlife and how grief and love are the two most powerful emotions.

The production will also feature a "Bring You Pookie to the Theatre" promotion where attendees of all ages can bring their favorite stuffed friend to the performance for $1 off the ticket price if they purchase tickets in person at the Theatre 810 box office.

The Monster Tales runs Wednesday, Oct. 24 through Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee showing on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. at Theatre 810 in downtown Lafayette.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at monstertales.eventbrite.com or by calling 337-484-0172.
