Gotreaux Family Farms hosts Harvest on the Farm dinner

by Elizabeth Rose

What is more farm-to-table than a table at the farm? Gotreaux Family Farms has teamed up with Village Café Executive Chef Jeremy Conner and sommelier Ben Leger for a truly farm-to-table dinner this Sunday.

Gotreaux Family Farms is hosting a six-course Harvest on the Farm dinner Sunday made from the foods grown on the Gotreaux farms, and each course is paired with a wine chosen by Leger. Hors d'oeuvres begin at 4 p.m., and the entrée will be served at sunset and the rest of the dinner will be held in candlelight.

For hors d'oeuvres, Conner is serving braised figs with farm cheese, merquez lamb sausage with orange and purple bell peppers, caramelized scallion and chicken liver puffs, kale chips with pepper relish and chicken salad okra boats.

The soup is a tilapia stew with fresh herbs - with tilapia from Gotreaux Family Farms' impressive tilapia operation, followed by a salad of garden offerings with greens, vegetable ribbons and buttermilk vinaigrette,

The tilapia makes an appearance once again in the fish course with a pan-seared tilapia filet with okinawan sweet potato purée and braised greens. The poultry course is coq au vin leg quarters with baby stew vegetables, followed by a smoked and braised lamb ragout ravioli with charred scallions.

To round out the meal, Conner has created a butternut squash ice cream with shortbread cookie, fig compote and candied pecans.

Tickets are $140 per seat, and seating is limited. For tickets, contact Brian or Dawn Gotreaux at 873-0383 or [email protected]. Gotreaux Family Farms is located at 205 Facile Road in Scott.
