The City-Parish Council will be asked Tuesday to pump about $96,000 into the Traffic & Transportation Department's budget to provide matching funds for federal grants to study 36 intersections in the city of Lafayette and unincorporated Lafayette Parish as possible locations for roundabouts. Lafayette Consolidated Government must put up 20 percent of the cost of the studies, the total for which is about $2,600 per intersection.

Twenty of the intersections are within the city limits and include such high-use locations as Vital Street at West Congress, Vincent Road at Verot and Butcher Switch at La. 182 (University Avenue). The remaining intersections in unincorporated Lafayette Parish include E. Broussard Road at Robley, Ridge Road at South Richfield and Ambassador Caffery at Renaud Drive.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the council auditorium at City Hall.
