Shopping: auction style

Palates and Pate rolls out amazing auction pieces

There are few events that marry art and eats the way Palates and Pate' does year after year. And this year promises to be no different as Jill Johnson Meaux and the crew prepare for the event's first year at The Victorian in Broussard.

Palates and Pate' All in Good Taste will include food from chefs at Zea's, Poseidon's, Jolie's, French Press, Pamplona, Ruth's Chris, Sophi P., Nash's, Bon Temps Cafe and The Lab. But, it's the auction items that are catching the attention over at IND Style. The signature piece from Paul's chief among them.

The one of a kind creation from the hands of PJ Naomi is five carats and truly something to behold. We got a gander at it this week over at the IND as we incorporated it into our December fashion shoot with the holiday's best in dressing. In fact, the sartorial choices of that fashion shoot (stay tuned to see it in the December IND) would be just the ticket for Palates. Think creative LBDs and anything metallic. In fact, Palates is kind of the first event of the holiday season in many ways. Although Christmas has yet to arrive in full force, the November event has always heralded the beginning of a new kind of season in dressing.

It's the first event of the fall that I at least consider tights and there's usually the chill in the air of the merriment to come. This year is no different as I anticipate another charming fete and (above all else) some style watching.

Palates is touted as a  "lively cocktail party" and we certainly agree with that approach to dressing for the evening. This IND styler is planning for a creative LBD as is Outreach Center supporter Katie Culbert who plans to wear her lucky Marc Jacobs dress.

In fact, it will be the third year running for the dress. She wore it the year before last when she met her now husband for the first time and plans to continue the tradition. Proving recycling is for more than glass.

Palates and Pate' begins at 7 p.m. at The Victorian in Broussard with entertainment from David Egan and Soul Express Brass Band.
