CIS donates to UL Nursing; Delhomme, Thomas named directors at Lourdes; Arnold named to LSHPRM board; Cavitt honored
CIS steps up for UL Nursing
Cardiovascular Institute of the South donated $20,000 to UL-Lafayette's Nursing Program to aid in maintaining the functionality of six simulation laboratories during a time of state budget cuts. CIS has chosen to sponsor the Critical Care Simulation laboratory to maintain its national recognition and to enhance the technology of the equipment and supplies. This was the first simulation laboratory created at the university and is the biggest and most comprehensive of the labs. On Dec. 1 at the City Club at River Ranch, CIS Chief Executive Officer David Konur presented a $20,000 check to Dr. Gail Poirier, dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions. "We know that our contribution will help the program maintain its national recognition, and the advanced technology of the lab will help provide the future nurses of our community with the best training possible," said Konur.
Delhomme, Thomas named directors at Lourdes Oncology
Tracy Delhomme was named administrative director of the Oncology Service Line at Our Lady of Lourdes. She is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and promoting all existing and new cancer programs and services for the hospital, including the strategic and business planning initiatives in collaboration with the Lourdes Cancer Network. She has 15 years of clinical experience, 12 of which are in the oncology/hematology field. Delhomme was the first nurse practitioner to provide a rheumatology clinic at UMC hospital. She received a BS in nursing from UL-Lafayette and an MS in nursing, adult nurse practitioner, from McNeese State University.
Also, Jeanine Thomas is now director for Oncology Unit and Outpatient Infusion. She received a BS in nursing from Southern University A & M College in Baton Rouge, an MS in nursing from UL and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Thomas has been a nurse educator at UL for the past four years and a staff RN in oncology at Lourdes for more than 10 years.
Arnold named to LSHPRM board, Cavitt honored
The Louisiana Society for Hospital Public Relations and Marketing elected its 2012-2013 board of directors at the organization's annual business meeting in mid-October. Elected member-at-large was Elisabeth Arnold, director of community relations for Our Lady of Lourdes. One of the Golden Pelican Awards, which recognize excellence in individuals who advance the principles of communications, marketing and public relations within the hospital industry, was presented to Scott Cavitt, publisher of Louisiana Medical News. Cavitt received the Lagniappe Award, which is presented to a communications partner (reporter, account representative, vendor) who demonstrates creativity, ingenuity and strong principles in assisting LSHPRM members in communications.
