Deadline Wednesday for Mickey Edwards luncheon

by Leslie Turk

The deadline is tomorrow, Wednesday, to RSVP for the Mickey Edwards luncheon lecture on Dec. 19.

Confused and confounded by all the acrimonious political maneuvering in Washington as the fiscal cliff looms larger and larger? Former Republican Congressman Mickey Edwards puts forth an uncomplicated nine-point plan toward a return to productive civil discourse in his highly acclaimed new book The Parties vs The People: How to Turn Republicans and Democrats into Americans. Edwards brings his hopeful message to Lafayette to close out the 2012 IND Lecture Series next Wednesday, Dec. 19, at noon at The Cajundome Convention Center. The series is presented by IberiaBank; AT&T joins as supporting sponsor for this lecture.

Representing Oklahoma, Edwards served 16 years in Congress (1977-1993). He was one of three founding trustees of the Heritage Foundation and national chairman of the American Conservative Union. After leaving Congress, he taught at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, where students selected him as outstanding teacher in 1997. He also served on The Brookings Institute's campaign-finance reform working group and has taught or lectured at Georgetown, Princeton and George Washington University (currently). He is also vice president of The Aspen Institute and director of the group's Rodel Fellowships in Public Leadership.

Individual tickets are $40. A reserved table for eight is $340. For reservations or additional information, contact Robin Hebert by phone at (337) 769-8603 or by email at [email protected]. Deadline is Wednesday.
