Under guarded supervision at a local hospital and pending medical clearance is 32-year-old Albert Brice Prejean of Carencro who is expected to be charged for allegedly attempting to murder his own father in the second degree, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office reports.
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is waiting to get the green light from doctors before slapping attempted second-degree murder charges on Albert Brice Prejean of Carencro for allegedly attacking his 63-year-old father with a samurai sword Wednesday afternoon.
According to an LPSO press release issued today, Wednesday's alleged samurai attack resulted when the elder Prejean attempted to give his son a bit of fatherly advice. Here's what LPSO deputies reported discovering inside the rural Carencro home:
Deputies arrived to find a 63 year old male with several chop like injuries to the hands, arms and head. The man indicated that his 32 year old son had struck him several times with a samurai sword; deputies learned that the father who does not reside at that address was attempting to counsel his son concerning domestic issues when the discussion escalated into a dispute.
The son exited the room and returned with the sword striking his father at least four times. The cuts on the arm and hand appear to be defensive type wounds; Prejean was attempting to strike his father about the head. As the father defended himself the two men fell and the son received a cut to his leg as well.
Prejean was cuffed and taken to University Medical Center, where "he remains under guard until such time as he can be transferred to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center."
The injuries sustained by Prejean's father were not life-threatening, though he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
