In some corners of Lafayette, Christmas cheer and celebrations were interrupted by violence.

On Christmas Day at approximately 7 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to the intersection of I-49 and Pont des Mouton regarding a stabbing. The 42-year-old male victim told police he was traveling on I-10 westbound when an older white panel van drove dangerously close to his vehicle.

The two drivers exchanged hand gestures and then stopped on the shoulder of I-49 at its intersection with Pont des Mouton. The victim and the male suspect became involved in a physical altercation, according to the victim, who told police he was stabbed several times by the suspect, described as a white male in his 40s. The victim told police the suspect climbed back into his vehicle and fled the area. The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Less than an hour later, at approximately 7:42 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to the 100 block of West Gloria Switch Road regarding a carjacking. The victim said she had driven up to a gas pump at a local station and was exiting her vehicle when the suspect approached and pushed her to the ground. The suspect stole the victim's white 2001 Jeep Cherokee with Louisiana License plate WQZ047.

Hours later, a night of partying at Shakers on Jefferson Street turned violent at approximately 1:40 a.m., when Lafayette Police responded to a fight that occurred inside the nightclub. The victim, a 20-year-old male, told officers he was inside of the building when a large fight broke out. During the fight he was stabbed twice in the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No suspects have been located in any of these incidents, which remain under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incidents or the identity of the suspects to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
