Of all the people 15th Judicial District Attorney Mike Harson could have assigned to prosecute Friday's traffic cases, Gary Haynes should not have even been an option.

Could the mounting pressure of getting federally probed for months now explain why Harson would put the husband of his disgraced longtime secretary in charge of today's traffic cases? You might recall that Barna Haynes admitted in federal court Monday to taking bribes (she says $55,000; the feds say more than $70,000) right under her boss' nose for four years.
Gary Haynes, the city prosecutor/assistant district attorney, has not been implicated in the bribery scheme, but the investigation is ongoing, according to the feds. Gary is more than capable of handling the traffic docket, as he's the chief prosecutor in city court, but that's just not the point.
When The IND paid a visit to the courtroom of Judge Glenn Everett this morning, low-and-behold there was Gary Haynes, hard at work prosecuting the docket of traffic cases, among which, according to the Clerk of Court, are OWIs.
But should we expect anything less of our incompetent DA - the same one who kept on his payroll two employees who participated in the bribery scheme so they could train their replacements? Yes, he was aware of the impending guilty pleas (they were the worst-kept secret) but told The IND he kept Greg Williams and his secretary, Denease Curry, on staff to train their replacements. He didn't accept their resignations until a day before they both pleaded guilty to accepting cash and gifts from private investigator Robert Williamson; for his role, Williams will face disbarment. Haynes more than likely is training Williams' replacement.
