Leaders to discuss taxes Monday

City-Parish President will call for the formation of a "blue ribbon committee" of local residents tasked with making recommendations on how to more effectively and equitably levy property and sales taxes in Lafayette Parish.

Representatives of taxing authorities will gather at 2 p.m. Monday in the Lafayette City Hall council auditorium to talk about how taxes are levied in the parish. The two-hour meeting is expected to bring together reps from Lafayette Consolidated Government, the school board and the five smaller municipalities in the parish. According to an agenda distributed to media on Friday, City-Parish President will call for the formation of a "blue ribbon committee" of local residents tasked with making recommendations on how to more effectively and equitably levy property and sales taxes in Lafayette Parish.

The meeting is open to the public.
