BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal's budget relies on selling six tracts of state property around south Louisiana to remain in balance. None of the land sales are done deals.
Jindal's budget for next year assumes the state will receive $47 million from the property sales, money that the governor's using to help pay for public colleges.
For sale would be an art deco landmark in downtown Baton Rouge, a slice of a St. Tammany Parish hospital campus and the old insurance building lot across the street from the Louisiana Capitol.
Jindal's chief budget analyst, Commissioner of Administration Kristy Nichols, says the administration has buyers identified for nearly all the property.
