DTA! with Dege Legg & Black Bayou Construckt

Brother Dege returns along with Black Bayou Construckt for this week's edition of Downtown Alive! to deliver their unique style of Psyouthern Rock and Blues that blends folk, metal, punk, rock and outlaw country with a dash of Delta blues. Downtown Alive! is free and open to the public and kicks off Friday, April 12, from 6-8:30 p.m. Concessions will be on sale and help to keep Downtown Alive! a free event, so guests are asked to keep ice chest at home. PLAYday 2013

Women's and Children's Hospital will be hosting its annual summer activities fair and family fitness expo PLAYday 2013 this Saturday. Families with children in grades Pre-K through fifth are encouraged to attend and enjoy the many activities and to learn as a family how to have fun this summer while staying away from pitfalls like video games, television and high-calorie snacks. Activities at PLAYday 2013 include a Kids ER Teddy Bear Clinic, football toss, fun jumps, a rock wall, carnival-style games, an obstacle course, exercise demonstrations and more. PLAYday 2013 will be held Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of the Kids Specialty Center, located on the Women's & Children's Hospital campus, 4600 Ambassador Caffery Parkway. Earth Day

Vermilionville is inviting the public to celebrate Earth Day to help inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment. Various community organizations will be on hand for green demonstrations, presentations, exhibits and tours, children's crafts, and a scavenger hunt. Live entertainment will be provided at the Performance Center by T'Monde, Lee Benoit & Bayou Stompers and Chris Segura & Friends in the village. This year's Earth Day celebration will be held Sunday, April 14, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Vermilionville, located at 300 Fisher Road.
