ABiz Scene

by Patrick Flanagan

ABiz was on the scene for the most recent installment of IND Monthly's Lecture Series, featuring political journalist John Maginnis.

Respected political journalist John Maginnis shared with the crowd gathered at the Hilton Lafayette his insights into the current legislative session, Louisiana's fall 2014 U.S. Senate race and Gov. Jindal's national ambitions. Maginnis, who has covered the events and players in Louisiana politics since 1972, spoke this year as part of IND Monthly's Lecture Series. IberiaBank and The Picard Group were presenting and supporting sponsors, respectively. Maginnis launched LaPolitics Weekly via fax (and later online) in 1993 and writes a syndicated column that appears in 16 daily and weekly newspapers around the state. He has authored two books, The Last Hayride in 1984 and Cross to Bear in 1992. Maginnis is currently working on a website called Howtogetelected.com to encourage first-time candidates to run for office.
