UL's Spring Gala full of trending style and Cajun's signature red
Louisiana Saturday nights are an iconic thing. But, if you live around these parts you know there's no telling what you're going to get - especially if the night in question comes in spring. And so, it was with great delight I perused the lush gardens on a perfectly ordered spring evening behind the UL Alumni house looking for the well dressed at UL's Spring Gala.
Spring was in the air as guests arrived to a sun that provided just enough warmth for bare shoulders like the uber-stylish ones of Angela Thibeaux who donned a trend worthy black jumpsuit (she also informed us the one-shoulder could be converted to cover both shoulders). We spotted a couple of jumpsuits that were just how to do cocktail that's forward thinking (and quite comfy). We loved the demure blush hues of Rocks Ann Searcy's dress and the vibrant green on Jovette Mosing.
But, it was the little red dress worn by the queen of UL, Gail Savoie that most thoroughly caught our eye. (And truly it was not just because I adore the woman in a real non-fashion related way. But, that certainly didn't hurt.) She was glowing in red with a perfectly done red lip.
"Red just may be your color," I told her absently as we parted.
"Well, I sure hope so!" she exclaimed with a signature Gail laugh and a wave.
And her hubs didn't disappoint in the red department with his shoes that paid homage to the Cajuns.
Other ladies in red were everywhere. I couldn't take my eyes off Brooke Fontenot in her 50's silhouette and polished topknot. The rosette-trimmed skirt of her dress was sweet as it could be and the asymmetrical neckline kept it fresh.
As far as couples go, Jeremy and Beth Trahan were a style pair. Beth wore spring's must have black and white, but swapped it for a cream and black curve hugging dress while her husband showed everyone just how to wear a bow tie right.
