This Saturday, the Cane Fire Film Series will screen the critically-acclaimed Austalian-German war film Lore.

The film, which was written by Robin Mukherjee and directed by Cate Shortland, tells the story of a 14-year-old German girl named Lore who is left to fend for herself and her four siblings after their parents, both staunch supporters of the Nazi party, are interred by the Allies after World War II.

Lore then embarks on a harrowing journey with her kin that begins to change her notions of family, love and friendship as well as the reality of their parents' actions.

"You may be thinking you don't have the emotional and psychological space for yet another movie about childhood in wartime or the legacy of the Holocaust, but I promise you that Lore offers a vision of the costs of war at an individual level, along with a challenging moral parable, that's not like anything you've seen before," says Andrew O'Hehir of Salon.com.

The Cane Fire Film Series screening of Lore will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the LITE Center, located at 537 Cajundome Blvd. Tickets are $10. For more information find the Cane Fire Film Series on Facebook here or the event page here.
