The Senate Health and Welfare Committee on Wednesday pushed back its decision a week, after senators said they wanted more information, including details on why Gov. Bobby Jindal's administration opposes the Medicaid expansion.
Meanwhile, the House Health and Welfare Committee continued an hours-long debate on similar legislation and was expected to vote later in the day.
The health care law pushed by President Barack Obama allows the expansion to cover adults making up to 138 percent of the poverty level - less than $32,000 for a family of four. And the federal government will pick up most of the cost.
