In an LPSS press release issued Friday, school officials noted a connection between the two bogus bomb threats. In both threats - Thursday at Broussard Middle followed with today's at LJ Alleman Middle - school administrators discovered close to identical messages written, allegedly by students, on the walls of bathroom stalls.
Both threats, according to Friday's release, stated that a "pressure-cooker bomb" was hidden somewhere on campus.
"I don't think there was any real connection, but more like an LJ Alleman student just heard on the news or something about how it worked at Broussard, and decided Hey, we'll do it here too,'" Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper tells The IND.
Fortunately, Cooper says both evacuations went off without a hitch and without any injuries.
First responders found no evidence of a bomb during Thursday's investigation of Broussard Middle, and according to Friday's release, a HAZMAT team, along with police and firefighters were still checking the LJ Alleman campus for any potential threats.
