Acadiana 365’s Weekend Picks

Don't let the rain ruin your weekend. Enjoy these events plucked from the pages of Acadiana 365.

The forecast for Saturday may be dreary, but don't let that discourage you from stepping out this weekend. Take a look at these events to get a few ideas on how you can spend your rainy day fund.

Big Easel postponement/ArtWalk

This Saturday, May 11, was to mark River Ranch's annual Big Easel art bazaar, but due to the inclement weather expected to hit Acadiana on Saturday, the event's organizers decided to postpone the event to June 8. But all of those last minute Mother's Day shoppers anticipating the event are in luck. The Lafayette art community has once again shown their resolve as the region's eminent custodians of art and culture by ensuring that The Big Easel artists can still display and sell their work this Mother's Day weekend at ArtWalk. Those artists will be present at five different locations at tomorrow's ArtWalk in the Oil Center and downtown Lafayette from 5-9 p.m.

For details on where the Big Easel artists will be posted up, check out the IND Monthly's Walk It Out for more on tomorrow's ArtWalk.

This month's ArtWalk will also feature exclusive building access to the public of several historical buildings in downtown Lafayette, as well as the Student Arts Expo being held at the AcA. For more information on ArtWalk, visit downtownlafayette.org.

The UL Lafayette Faculty Jazz Ensemble will be holding a special benefit concert for Chorale Acadienne and the Hillard Art Museum on Friday, May 10. Jazz on the Plazz kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. For more information visit ullafayettefoundation.org.

ASO presents To Mothers with Love
