EatLafayette returns June 17 for its ninth year of a summer-long campaign that encourages diners to choose locally owned establishments. Fly Lafayette Club, and its tie-in with travel and tourism, is the campaign's premier sponsor for the third consecutive year.

What began as a simple concept of helping locally owned eateries attract customers has grown into a multi-media campaign that now spans 11 weeks. The campaign is funded by sponsorships, registration fees, Lafayette Travel and support by local media groups like IND Media.

Historically, the summer months are the slowest for the restaurant and tourism industry, but the efforts of EatLafayette are changing that dynamic, with Fly Lafayette Club also giving members opportunities to earn perks, including free meals from some of the EatLafayette restaurants.

The result is that dining, travel and tourism are creating a trifecta making the Hub City a hot destination in Louisiana full of flavor and spice.

This summer, a record 71 participants are serving up dishes ready for those looking to explore all that locally owned restaurants have to offer.

No summer travel plans to somewhere exciting? With EatLafayette, a staycation doesn't have to be boring?

Get a group together for a night on the town and get a progressive dinner in motion - choose four of your favorite EatLafayette participating restaurants and stop in one for drinks, move on to the next for appetizers, another for a main course and finish up somewhere sweet for dessert.

While you are out, be sure to share your experience with others through social media apps like Facebook and Twitter. For the visual learners, Instagram and Vine will make all your followers wish they were breaking bread with you. Be sure you follow EatLafayette (@eatlafayette) and tag your meal with #eatlafayette.

Check back daily with INDEats starting June 17 for our EatLafayette Dish of the Day (and Dish of the Month in our print issue). Read online daily for inspiration from the Dish of the Day team, including money-saving specials and can't miss finds that will make you proud to call Lafayette home. Follow us on Facebook (IND Monthly), Twitter (@theind) and Vine (The Independent) - we will do our best to follow you back when you use our tag #INDeats.

We want to know and share how you plan to EatLafayette all summer long.
