PE ‘classes' slated for downtown

by Walter Pierce

Beginning June 24, DLU is teaming up with CrossFit South Acadiana to offer adult PE classes featuring such classic activities as kick ball, four square and cabbage ball.

Physical education might be an endangered curriculum in our schools, but the clever folks at Downtown Lafayette Unlimited are reviving it for grown-ups.

Beginning June 24, DLU is teaming up with CrossFit South Acadiana to offer adult PE classes featuring such classic activities as kick ball, four square and cabbage ball. The classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and at 10 a.m. on Saturdays at Parc Sans Souci on East Vermilion Street. The price of admission is your PE uniform: a $15 T-shirt emblazoned with "Downtown Phys Ed" and a rectangle in which to write your name. The T-shirts will be available at each class. Wear the T to the next class and you're in like Flynn!

We have it on good authority that the first Downtown Phys Ed class will feature an 8-foot ball.

Food and drink specials will be offered at Agave, Vermilion House Bistro - both on East Vermilion facing the park - and around the corner at Zeus on Jefferson Street during a "free period" following the class, comporting perfectly with the established South Louisiana tradition of getting sweaty then getting a buzz.
