BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal has signed next year's construction budget without stripping any projects with his line-item veto.
The governor didn't need to remove anything he doesn't like because his office will have decision-making power over which new projects advance in the 2013-14 fiscal year that begins July 1.
The nearly $5 billion construction budget will continue work on ongoing projects, but it has nearly $330 million more in new projects that the state can afford to start.
That leaves the governor to pick and choose which projects to forward to the State Bond Commission for lines of credit.
With the signing of the construction budget bill, Jindal's office says the governor has acted on all bills passed by the Legislature.
