Acadiana 365’s Pick of the Day: Boys & Girls Club Home Run Derby

The 5th Annual Boys & Girls Clubs Home Run Derby kicks off Friday night with a benefit concert with Keith Frank with the actual fundraiser following on Saturday.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Acadiana are organizing their annual Home Run Derby Benefit this weekend. It all starts on Friday, June 28, with the Home Run Derby Zydeco Concert featuring music by Keith Frank starting at 9:00 pm at Mojo's Sports Bar Evangeline Downs Casino, 2235 Creswell Lane Ext,, Opelousas. Tickets are $12 at the door and all proceeds go towards the Boys and Girls Clubs of Acadiana.

The actual Home Run Derby then begins on Saturday, June 29, with the free children's Home Run Derby for children ages 12 and under starting at 9 a.m., followed by the adult's Home Run Derby at 10 a.m., at South City Park, located at 1524 S. Market St., in Opelousas. Adult participants get 10 swings for $20 and the person to get the most home runs to beat Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow wins a trophy and T-shirt. Fun jumps and refreshments will be available for children.
