The state Department of Education has finally shut down the New Living Word Ministries' school in Ruston, blogger Lamar White Jr. tells us here. The school, which at one time had the most voucher kids of any participating school in the state, has been banned from the program, White says. This is also the program that attracted attention after a Monroe paper wrote about it, White reminds us. How the mighty have fallen.

The school is run by former UL head football coach Jerry Baldwin, who in 2007 won a $2 million federal jury award against the university in a civil rights suit claiming he was fired because of his race, not the pathetic 6-27 record during his tenure from 1998-2001. The award was later vacated by an appeals court.
