The Center for Louisiana Studies offers its latest free cultural seminar with this month's topic Cajun, Creole and Zydeco Dancing: What It Is and What It Isn't.

The Center for Louisiana Studies offers its latest free cultural seminar with July's topic Cajun, Creole and Zydeco Dancing: What It Is and What It Isn't featuring moderator Corey Porche. Porche will share his immense passion, experience, insights and questions into the history, origins and evolution of Cajun and Zydeco dance.

Accompanying Porche will be Alyson Haymark Schexnayder as both offer instruction and demonstrations of the various dances including how such dances have advanced over the years.

The Backyard Series is free and open to the public and begins on Tuesday, July 9, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Vermilionville, located at 300 Fisher Road. For more information including details on upcoming entries in the Backyard Series, visit Vermilionville.org.
