People in Business: Spizale joins Coldwell Banker, Camos promoted at Knight

by Leslie Turk

Former KRVS GM Dave Spizale joins Coldwell Banker, and Chris Camos is elevated to vice president of global facilities and real estate for Knight Oil Tools.

David Spizale has joined Coldwell Banker Pelican Real Estate as a Realtor. After 30 years of service at UL Lafayette as an adjunct professor of communications and the general manager of KRVS-88.7 FM, Spizale retired in June of 2012.

"I was interested in doing something that was totally different, with a whole new vernacular, a whole new language," he says. A native of New Orleans, Spizale received his BA degree from UL Lafayette in 1974. Prior to accepting the UL position in 1984, he served as general manager of KEMC-FM public radio, assistant professor of communications at the University of Montana in Billings and assistant professor of communications and director of Cable Access TV-5 for Bethany College in Bethany, W.Va.

"As the manager of public radio stations, I was on the front line in terms of customer service, finance and personnel management. When I retired, I wanted to do something that would involve social interaction and enable me to utilize that skill set," Spizale says.

He chose Coldwell Banker in part because of its proximity to UL's campus; the firm's offices are on East St. Mary Boulevard. In addition to the general practice of seeking listings and buyers, Spizale hopes to assist the university's faculty, staff and administration in locating properties that meet their needs and welcoming new employees into the community.

Spizale officially joined Coldwell Banker in the spring and has since graduated from the BURK BAKER School of Real Estate & Appraising. He is licensed by the Louisiana Real Estate Commission.

Chris Camos was promoted to vice president of global facilities and real estate for Knight Oil Tools. He is responsible for all of Knight Oil Tools' real estate from a strategic worldwide standpoint. In addition to his new global duties, Camos will continue to oversee all of Knight Oil Tools' land acquisitions and the company's ongoing and future construction projects from planning, designing and constructing to completion.

Camos has more than 35 years of experience in sales, real estate and construction development. After joining Knight in 2011, he served as vice president of real estate and construction for two years. Prior to Knight Oil Tools, Camos was vice president for Rudick Company Inc., a Lafayette-based general contracting company that specializes in constructing commercial facilities for the oil and gas industry.

He also worked for the J.I. Case Construction Equipment Division, where he served as regional marketing manager.
