Hauser joins UL hoops staff

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Gus Hauser, who has 11 years coaching experience at the collegiate level, has been named assistant basketball coach at Louisiana-Lafayette.

The hiring was announced by head coach Bob Marlin and is pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

Hauser has enjoyed success as an assistant coach, owning a 215-136 record that includes five seasons of 20 or more wins, three trips to the NCAA Championship and a pair of NIT appearances. Included in those totals was a trip to the NCAA Final Four as part of a 33-5 season while serving as a graduate assistant at Louisville in 2004-05.

Hauser joins the UL staff after spending the last two seasons (2011-13) at Wofford, helping the Terriers to 32 wins over his two seasons.
