La. weekly initial unemployment claims down

The state labor department figures released Monday show 3,035 initial claims compared to 3,764 a week earlier.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending July 20 decreased from the previous week's total.

The state labor department figures released Monday show 3,035 initial claims compared to 3,764 a week earlier.

The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 2,978 from the previous week's average of 2,975.

Continued unemployment claims claimed for the week ending July 20 decreased to 26,423 compared to the previous week's total of 26,467.

The four-week moving average of such claims increased to 25,822 from the previous week's average of 25,354.
