Conference commissioner says it makes sense for the league to have a permanent presence in the stadium where one of its top teams play in a bowl game each season.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Sun Belt Conference has completed a move into new headquarters inside the Superdome.

Conference commissioner Karl Benson says the move, which became official Thursday, comes as the league strengthens ties to New Orleans, where an increasing number of league championships are scheduled to be held in coming years.

The league has enjoyed a long-term relationship with the New Orleans Bowl, which is played in the Superdome, since the bowl game's inception in 2001. Benson says it makes sense for the league to have a permanent presence in the stadium where one of its top teams play in a bowl game each season.

The league also is bringing to New Orleans its basketball tournaments for the next three years, and tennis championships for the next two years.
