Friday, Sept. 6.

Louisiana Crossroads presents Dr. John

Hot off his fifth Grammy win, the legendary Dr. John stops by Acadiana Center for the Arts to kick off its 14th season of Louisiana Crossroads. Dr. John will be performing select tracks from his latest album Locked Down, as well as classics from his storied career. Guests can also enjoy complimentary beer from Bayou Teche Biere and Cajun dishes from Tony Chachere's.

The season premiere of Louisiana Crossroads featuring Dr. John begins Friday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the ACA's Moncus Theatre, located at 101 W. Vermilion St., in downtown Lafayette. Tickets start at $80. For more information visit AcadianaCenterfortheArts.org.

Kidz Bop

They Heymann Center welcomes the recent tour of Kidz Bop, which is a brand of compilation albums featuring child session musicians performing contemporary music. The musicians comprise young children who will be performing kid-friendly versions of popular music from Top 40 radio.

Kidz Bop begins at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 6, at the Heymann Performing Arts Center located at 1373 S. College Road. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or by visiting HeymannCenter.com.

Lafayette Professional Firefighters 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Event

Acadiana's professional firefighters are coming together to commemorate the 343 FDNY members who sacrificed their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, with a memorial stair climb fundraiser. Registered teams of one to six climbers will climb 110 stories up Chase Tower as a tribute to our fallen heroes. Teams have the choice of climbing together or doing a relay climb. There will also be a jambalaya cook off, raffle, door prizes, silent auction, kids activities and much more. Registration is $25. Proceeds benefit the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation.

The Lafayette Professional Firefighters 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Event begins at 9:11 a.m. on Sept. 7, at Chase Tower, located at 600 Jefferson St., in downtown Lafayette. Sunday, Sept. 8.

Kincaid Loop Trail Hiking Trip

Pack & Paddle invites local outdoor enthusiasts for a day hike through the Kincaid Loop Trail. The trail consists of a picturesque nine mile loop with easy terrain and a variety of scenery. The route winds along the hilly shore of Lake Kincaid before crossing the Wild Azalea Trail. A lunch will also be provided during the hike.

The Kincaid Loop Trail Hiking Trip begins on Sunday, Sept. 8, with hikers meeting at 7 a.m. at Pack & Paddle, located at 601 E. Pinhook Road. Admission is $40. For more information call 337-232-5854 or visit PackPaddle.com.
